Godly Play is coming to St. Andrew’s!
Do you wonder about Godly Play?
Godly Play is a creative and imaginative curriculum that teaches children the art of using Christian language - parable, sacred story, silence and liturgical action - to help them become aware of God’s presence in their lives. It is rooted in the Episcopal principles of scripture, tradition, and reason and the teaching methods of Maria Montessori.
Biblical stories are told with hands-on materials, props, and symbols to make the stories accessible to children. The children are then asked wondering questions, which lead them to think how the stories of God’s people relate to their own lives and relationship with God. There are no right or wrong answers.
During work time, children have an opportunity to use any of the story materials in the room or other craft materials.
Sunday School ends with Feast, and the children then join their parents in church for Communion.
